Accommodation records for resort:
Located amidst some of the world’s most spectacular scenery, Mürren is a charming little village that has managed to escape over-development despite being famous in the history of winter sports since the very start of downhill skiing. Located at one end of the legendary Jungfrau region, on the same lift pass as Wengen and Grindelwald although not linked to them by ski piste (you can however get across by a wonderful, century-old mountain railway).

Mürren ski resort information

The tiny ski resort of Mürren in Switzerland is located in a spectacular spot, high on a shelf facing the majestic Eiger Mountain. At 1650m, this resort is the perfect place to come to bathe in the beauty of the surrounding landscape.

High above the valley, Mürren is car-free and can only be accessed via a cable car from the valley floor or the funicular railway. The ski area above Mürren covers 53km of pistes, with low slopes accessed via chair lifts and higher slopes on Birg and Schiltgrat accessed via a funicular railway or cable car.

Accommodation in Mürren that Ski Line offer consists mainly of pretty half board hotels, most of which boast fantastic views across the valley. With the village being so small, everything’s within walking distance so wherever you stay will be conveniently located for lift access and to any restaurants or bars you wish to visit.

Après ski in the ski resort of Mürren

The après ski in Mürren is perhaps surprisingly varied. Quiet drinks can be had in one of many stübli bars, music can be listened to at the Tachi bar, or a spot of dancing can be done at Inferno. There’s also a children’s disco in the Blumental hotel if you’re travelling as a family. For a restaurant with a view, Mürren’s famous Piz Gloria sits on a peak and revolves, providing incredible views across to the Black Forest in Germany, Mont Blanc, and the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau Mountains nearby.

Activities off the slopes in the ski resort of Mürren

For a non-skier in Mürren there’s a sports centre with an ice-rink, but apart from this activities are limited. Walking is the main attraction to non-skiers, as there are 7 miles of prepared trails from which to admire the surrounding views and enjoy the fresh mountain air.

Beginners skiing in the ski resort of Mürren

Although there are a few blue runs in this resort and a nursery slope area in Allmendhubel, they might prove to be a little bit steep for first time skiers or for those who are not that confident, however if you can master them there are some lovely runs to be enjoyed.

Intermediates skiing in the ski resort of Mürren

Early intermediates are probably best catered for in Mürren, with blue and red runs providing a mixture of gentle cruising runs and more difficult runs. More challenging pistes can be found in Wengen, a short trip away.

Advanced skiing in the ski resort of Mürren

The runs down from the Schilthorn and a mogul run from Schiltgrat are the most difficult, and some off-piste skiing can be done when the snow conditions are right.

Snowboarding in the ski resort of Mürren

With cable cars and chair lifts being the main types of lifts, Mürren is trying to appeal to snowboarders as well as skiers. Steep slopes and varied terrain are best for free riders, but for beginners or intermediates they might be a bit tough.
