St-Sorlin-d’Arves is located within the Les Sybelles ski area in France which covers an impressive ski area of 310km making it bigger than better known ski areas such as Val d’Isere and Tignes. Despite its size it’s yet to be found by the mass market and remains a French “secret” ski resort. This brings benefits, the lack of visitors means that the snow generally holds well, but on the same hand the lack of visitors has also meant upgrades to the largely slow lift system is slow.
St-Sorlin-d’Arves is an attractive traditional ski village, located at 1600m its local mountain includes 120km of pistes, its ski range covers 1100m to 2620m. Other villages in the Les Sybelles area include Le Corbier 1550m , St-Jean-d’Arves 1550m and La Toussiure 1700m.

Après ski in St-Sorlin-d’Arves is quiet but improving, a newly opened and lively Yeti bar is popular so too is the D’sybelle night club open until late, apart from that a few bars and restaurants are available.

Very limited, it’s possible to arrange a dog sleigh ride via the tourist office and there are some pleasant walks with snow shoes.

A very good nursery slope is located right in the heart of the village and the progression slopes are very good for beginners. The best of which are located in the La Balme sector.
Intermediates skiing in ski resort St-Sorlin-d’Arves
St-Sorlin-d’Arves is without doubt in the main a intermediate skiers area, the slopes are built with intermediate skiers and snow boarders in mind. There are some excellent long reds dropping from top to bottom. On some days in off peak weeks it will feel like you have the runs for your exclusive use.
Advanced Skiing in ski resort St-Sorlin-d’Arves
St-Sorlin-d’Arves is not a good choice for groups of advanced skiers and now boarders, there little on the piste to challenge. The best of the areas off piste can be found on the Les Perrons sector.

St-Sorlin-d’Arves is best suited to beginners and intermediate snow boarders. Intermediate free riders will enjoy the slopes, but be warned there are a few drag lifts. Some of the off piste will delight, but its limited.
