    Accommodation records for resort:
St Jean D’arves is a charming, friendly traditional village of panoramic views and old, pitched roof buildings. Saint Jean d'Arves is one of the 6 linked resorts of the wide ski area "Les Sybelles" which offers 310 kilometres of runs.
    St-Jean-d’Arves ski resort information

St-Jean-d’Arves is a small village located 50 m below St-Sorlin-d’Arves and is located in the massive Les Sybelles ski area in Frances Maurienne massif which offers an impressive ski area covering 310km of piste. Despite the size of the ski area it remains a secret from the British market that in general flock to the larger ski areas in France such as the three valleys, La Plagne and Les Arcs. One reason for this must be the lifts, which are often slow, in fact only 10% of the lifts are fast but even this has a positive slant, slower lifts means less people so with fewer skiers and boarders the snow can stay good for weeks after fresh snow fall.

St-Jean-d’Arves is located on a ridge just above Le Corbier; two blue runs connect the village to the ski area. The lifts out connecting to a point above La Corbier is painful slow, the tears running down your face wont be from the speed of the lift, but once out you have a good large ski area to explore.

St-Jean-d’Arves is a small community rather than a village and night life here just doesn’t happen.

Activities off the slopes in ski resort St-Jean-d’Arves

St-Jean-d’Arves is a poor choice for none skiers, don’t come here!

Beginners skiing in ski resort St-Jean-d’Arves

For beginners the issue with staying in St-Jean-d’Arves is the only runs are blue, so nervous first timers might find this a challenge, particularly after a hard day in ski school, younger children shouldn’t have a problem after a days or so in ski school. But once you reach the ridge over looking Le Corbier there is a good net work of gentle green runs to learn on. There is a ski bus connecting with St-Sorlin-d’Arves which would be a better place to start.

Intermediates skiing in ski resort St-Jean-d’Arves

St-Jean-d’Arves doesn’t offer a quick start at the beginning of the day due to the slow departure lift or a bus to avoid it, but once you are in the ski area the terrain is varied and regarded as being best suited to intermediate skiers and boarders alike.

Advanced Skiing in ski resort St-Jean-d’Arves

Les Sybelles area holds little to keep advanced skiers busy for a week, the off piste is limited with the best being found between the villages of Le Corbier and La Toussuires, St-Jean-d’Arves is recommended by us as a good advanced area.

Snow boarding in ski resort St-Jean-d’Arves

Beginner and intermediate free riders will enjoy the varied terrain of the Les Sybelles pistes, there is little to attract advanced boarders and the off piste is limited.
