Accommodation records for resort:
Folgaria is a charming, typically Italian town on a sunny plateau above the Adige Valley with spectacular views around the Lavarone mountain range in the southern Dolomites. With its onion domed church, shops and coffee houses, it recalls the days when the Sud Tyrol was part of Austria. It has all the traditional winter pursuits and always seems to have a festive, Christmassy atmosphere.

The interlinked ski area can be accessed from several points just outside the village and all are connected by the efficient free bus service

the skiing
The skiing has improved greatly in recent years. Pistes have been remodelled and lifts have been built so that Serrada/Folgaria now has more variety and scope. Beginners were always suited but suddenly it’s great for intermediates too. System development here is positively frenzied. We have never known a lift company do so much, so quickly. More snow cannons and chairlifts appear every year. Modern snowmaking now covers almost the whole system and there’s a new skating rink.

advanced
There are several black runs for more advanced skiers and off-piste excursions from the top of Passo Coe are available.

intermediate
Intermediates will find the area well connected and the ski pass also covers the nearby areas of Lavorone and Luserna. There is an array of well-kept, fairly amiable blues and reds and quite high mileage of 100km. The best area, about 60km, is just above Folgaria and Serrada, and offers open bowl skiing with various runs through the trees on undulating gentle slopes, which are great fun for youngsters.

beginner
Beginners have sheltered nursery slopes and good snow at altitude to inspire confidence. Progression is easy and natural and there are interesting journeys on pretty tree runs. With wide, open easy slopes Folgaria is the perfect place to learn to ski. Novices will start on the gentle runs at Francolini, which is well linked to Fondo Grande and then on to Fondo Piccolo so beginners progress quickly to the tree lined blue and even red runs. The excellent ski school ensures that beginners move on with confidence to the higher slopes. A moving-carpet type beginners lift was added last year.

family
There are many family activities to take part in in Folgaria, including ice skating, bowling and tobogganing.

snowboarding
There is a snow park at Passo Coe with a half pipe and jumps. There are wide-open runs, which are ideal for first time boarders.

après ski
There are plenty of cafes for delicious cakes and wonderful Italian coffee or several bars and restaurants serving aperitifs and local specialities.
