Accommodation records for resort:
The Serre Chevalier ski area is in fact three main villages with a good linked ski system. Chantemerle, (1350m) Villeneuve (1400m) and Montier Les Bains. (1500m) The three villages are linked with a regular bus service along the valley floor. Unlike most French resorts these villages have real charm! Serre Chevalier is a big league resort little known outside of France. Our clients who have visited seem to like it a lot.
Serre Chevalier ski resort information

Serre Chevalier’s slopes are nearly 60% covered by woods and forestry making it one of the best of all French resorts to be in bad weather. The ski slopes face mainly North and North East so hold the snow well. With a total of 250 km of piste with a ski range of between 1200m and 2735m.

The resort is made up of around 13 villages set along the valley each with attractive stone buildings giving it the appearance almost like southern Provencal villages.  Most of our catered chalets, ski hotels and apartments are located in 3 of these villages of Villeneuve at 1400m, Chantemerle at 1350m and Briancon 1200m all are connected by bus and lifts.

It’s a big and varied mountain with lots of wooded trails which offer attractive atmospheric chalets and family run hotels.

Ski Line offer catered ski chalets, ski hotels and apartments in Serre Chevalier as well as our most popular ski holidays here to the Club Med hotel offering all inclusive packages.

Après ski in ski resort Serre Chevalier

Night life in Serre Chevalier is mainly in bars with serveral playing music and some with live bands.

Activities off the slopes in ski resort Serre Chevalier

The old town of Briancon has a leisure centre with swimming pool, sauna’s, hot tubs and steam room and is worth a visit. Also visit the ice rink which has regular hockey matches. In Le Monetier the thermal baths are excellent. Ever fancied driving a piste basher? Well, you can have lessons here.

Beginners skiing in ski resort Serre Chevalier

All the main villages have nursery slopes with plenty of gentle runs to progress to as techniques are improved.

Intermediates skiing in ski resort Serre Chevalier

Serre Chevalier is a perfect choice for all intermediate skiers. When looking at the piste map the area seems full of red runs but many of these are easy and in other resorts might be blues and the slopes are normally perfectly groomed.

For stronger intermediates there is plenty to keep you smiling, many of the runs are wide enough to allow you to pick up your speed in safety with serveral large bowls where you can practice your carving turns. When the reds start to seem tame at the end of the week some of the blacks should challenge the more confident.

Advanced skiing in ski resort Serre Chevalier

Serre Chevalier will mainly appeal to the cruising type of advanced skier rather than those only concerned with pitch, although some of the blacks are genuinely steep, some dropping 800m so long too. For the off piste skier there is plenty, both high and in amongst the trees. La Voie Jackson run which is accessed from above Le Monetier that requires a short climb between the rocks and is worth the effort as it opens into a huge open bowl, but as always we recommend you book a guide whenever skiing away from the piste.
