Les Deux Alpes ski resort information
Les Deux Alpes is very popular, particularly so with those for whom night lift is important. It’s a long narrow village at 1650m with lifts all along the village floor and a ski range between 1650m to 3570 m. With 225 km of piste it offers more than enough skiing to keep most smiling all week.
Snowboarders love this resort with its snow-park complete with airbag, many competitions are held here each season.
Ski Line offers catered ski chalets, and ski hotels with excellent food and a large number of self catered apartments here.
Included in the cost of the lift pass is two days in the nearby ski resort of Alpe d’Huez with an option of a helicopter (€65 return) or buses which normally depart on Wednesdays and Thursdays, early booking in resort is advised for this. Also included is one days skiing in Serre Chevalier, which is an hour away by road.
On busy peak weeks, delays at some lifts can be an issue as up to 35,000 visitors hit the slopes.

Perfect! This is a ski resort for party animals the choice of bars and clubs is enormous, some of which stay open until the early hours. Smithy’s tavern is popular with the young and lively. The Secret bar has live bands. For the “older crowd” the Tribeca is fun. The main night club is the Avalanche staying open until late.

Both in door and out door pools are available in Les Deux Alpes. There is a wellness centre too with sauna, stream and hot tubs. Snow cats are available up to and across the glacier which has great views across the Southern Alps. There’s an outdoor ice rink too.
Beginners skiing in the ski resort of Les Deux Alpes
The nursery slopes just above the village are services by 7 free lifts; gentle green runs are perfect for getting to grips with what you have learnt. Once the basics have been learnt it’s possible to ski from the very top of the mountain down to the village on greens and blues, something that will delight first time skiers who in many resorts would have to settle for small bit sized pieces of suitable ski areas and seldomly skiing from top to bottom.
Intermediates skiing in the ski resort of Les Deux Alpes
For good intermediate skiers Les Deux Alpes may disappoint simply because the variety of runs is limited, some of the blues might be reds in other resorts so may cause issues for more timid intermediate skiers. However, if you are not a real serious piste basher you should find enough to keep you satisfied all week.
Advanced Skiing in the ski resort of Les Deux Alpes
It’s the off piste skiing here that will appeal including the famous La Grave run, which should only be tacked with a guide. The Chalance run is popular but check the avalanche risk before setting off. On the piste the blacks are disappointing as although some of the blacks coming down to the village are steep, in poor snow can be icy.
