La Rosiere ski resort information
La Rosiere is located high in the Tarentaise valley at 1850m on the boarder with Italy and is linked to the Italian ski resort of La Thuile in the north. Views looking south across the valley to Les Arcs and La Plagne are wonderful on a clear sunny day. The ski range is between 1175m and 2610m covering 150 km of piste, 45% being greens and Blues runs, 40% reds and 15% black.
La Rosiere has been building its reputation as a great family resort over the past 12 years, a short walk around the shops of which many cater for children is proof of where its heart lies. Serveral of our chalets have in house crèches and offer childcare for younger children and for older children after ski lessons end.
Attractive chalet style buildings are home to both apartment style catered chalets and smart self catering apartments, we also offer free standing traditional chalets that are offered fully catered. Some of these chalets come with hot tubs and saunas and the odd one with a swimming pool. The newly developed Les Eucherts area, lies just to the right of the main village and also has its own ski lift and is connected via a very good and reliable bus service. If you fancy a walk – it will take about 8 minutes to the centre of La Rosiere and is on the flat all the way. We offer serveral newly built chalets, and apartments here and with many of our accommodations they are ski in ski out or only a short walk to the Les Eucherts lift.
The ski slopes around La Rosiere are wide and most face south, so ideal for younger children but on hot sunny days this can often make the snow softer. However, the snow record is surprisingly good with fresh snow fall as weather fronts push up the valley. On sunny days head for the north facing slopes of the Italian resort of La Thuile where cheap mountain restaurants offer great value meals including pasta and pizzas.
Après ski in the ski resort of La Rosiere
Don’t expect much in the way of night life in la Rosiere but a few bars some playing music offers enough to keep you happy. The Petit Danois is the liveliest place in the village and stays open until late.
Activities off the slopes in the ski resort of La Rosiere
Limited, but with a good bowling centre, ice skating rink and for the brave try paragliding or for the more sedate, try snow shoeing on the mountain paths.
Beginners skiing in the ski resort of La Rosiere
It’s perfect here for beginners, the nursery slopes in the centre are ideal for children as they are away from the main ski area. Once the basics have been mastered the slopes are wide and many of the greens and blues offer gentle runs to get you quickly to the next level. Three free lifts means that you don’t need to buy a lift pass until you are ready to head up the mountain.
Intermediates skiing in the ski resort of La Rosiere
Many of the blues and reds are gentle and great for gaining confidence for the more timid intermediate skiers or Snowboarders.
The best run for intermediates is perhaps the Fontaine Freide Red that drops 750m down tree lined run to the Ecudets chair. The more brave intermediates will certainly want to explore the Italian side of the ski area
Advanced skiing in the ski resort of La Rosiere
For advanced skiers there are several interesting black runs and the off piste here is safe with snow generally staying good for weeks after fresh snow fall due to the limited numbers of skiers and boarders in La Rosiere skiing away from the pistes.
