Accommodation records for resort:
The picturesque old village of Montchavin and its recently developed neighbour, Les Coches lie down on the far left of the ski area. Montchavin has a traditional look and feel with narrow streets and old buildings. Les Coches is a modern resort but is designed sympathetically with all buildings built in wood and stone. Both of these resorts have a small variety of shops, bars and restaurants.
La Plagne, Les Coches ski resort information

Ski Line have a separate page for each of the 10 villages that make up the La Plagne ski area, this page covers details of Les Coches.

Les Coches is a small village located next door to Montchavin so is ideally placed to give access to the connection to Les Arcs in addition to being able to ski the 225km of piste skiing that the La Plagne Mountain offers. 85% of all these runs are on either Blue or Red runs making it an ideal ski area for intermediate skiers and snow boarders.

Les Coches enjoys a car free centre.

Les Coches is located at 1450m so is lower down the valley than the high and purpose built villages in the La Plagne ski area, but that’s part of its appeal for many who prefer to stay here. The benefits are simple, less people queuing for the lifts in the morning and empty slopes on the last run back down at the end of the day.

Après ski in ski resort La Plagne, Les Coches

Little going on in the way of night life with just a few bars and restaurants are being available locally. The last one Pub is recommended, it shows live sport and has live bands

Les Coches has its own nursery slopes just above the village at Plan Bois reached via a 6 man chair; a ski school is also located in the village for convenience. Once you are ready to try out a blue, the choices are endless.

Intermediates skiing in ski resort La Plagne, Les Coches

Paradise! The La Plagne ski area was designed with you in mind, look no further, 85% of the 225km of pistes are Blue or Red, every chair connects to at least one blue.

Advanced Skiing in ski resort La Plagne, Les Coches

Reading that La Plagne is so good for intermediates you advanced skiers and snow boarders might be thinking La Plagne isn’t for you! Think again, it’s not the piste skiing that attracts advanced skiers and snow boarders here, it’s the off piste fun to be had that will attract you.  In resorts that are famous for off piste, you will very often find that the off piste snow is often skied off within just a couple of hours after fresh snow, not in La Plagne, it can last weeks as so few visitors head off piste. It’s possible with a guide to do a circuit of La Plagne, Tignes and Val d’Isere and back via Les Arcs including an over night stopover, well worth it…

Snow boarding in ski resort La Plagne, Les Coches

La Plagne is a perfect area to learn to snow Board, the wide motorway styled pistes are perfect for practicing your turns. More advanced snow boarders should plan routes in advance to avoid some of the flat areas. It’s advanced boarders that will love it here best, the off piste is remarkable, it’s worth booking a guide to find some of the best open bowls and if the weather closes in there is plenty of trees to head for.
