Chamonix / Les Houches ski resort information
Les Houches is located about 6km down the valley from Chamonix. The valley is wooded making it ideal if the weather closes in but does result in the area getting busy when other parts of Chamonix are closed in poor weather.
The village is attractive with an old centre with an attractive church, but some of the newly developed buildings are now starting to spread back along the road, some are a good walk to the lifts.
The two main cable cars depart from either end of the village and connect to opposite ends of the valley, however both can be prone to lengthy queues at peak times. The newly renovated Gondola has improved this in the past few years.
The runs back down to the village are long and offer varied terrain for all levels of skiers and snow boarders. Above the ridge and towards the back of the ski area is a wonderful wooded area with gentle runs and attractive views across to Megeve.
Ski Line offers a good selection of hotels, catered chalets and self catered apartments in Les Houches.
