| Chalet Hotel Loden, Meribel, France |
Opt for luxury and indulge yourself at the Chalet Loden which accommodates 12 people. Built in traditional style and perfectly located overlooking the village of Meribel, it's what goes on inside the chalet that makes the Loden so special.
For a start it looks gorgeous, beautifully decorated with deep rich colours and antique furniture. And it is wonderfully comfortable, with immense deep sofas and thick cushions to sink into.
It also has satellite TV, DVD (and good library of films), iPod and dock and a wide, south facing balcony that runs the length of the living room. Downstairs is a large games room with a table tennis table.
The dining area, which is set off the living room, seats 12. Here your live-in chalet staff will start your day with full breakfast and fresh pastries. When you return from the slopes they'll have prepared tea and freshly home made cakes, delivered the English newspapers and, as you move into the evening, they'll serve canapés by the fire, followed by a three course dinner with local cheeseboard to finish and superior wines.
Upstairs the luxury continues. The bedrooms - two doubles (one en-suite) and four twins all with big deep beds with Egyptian cotton bed linen, fluffy towels and thick bathrobes. The bathrooms are stocked with Molton Brown toiletries, and up on the top floor the three twin rooms have lovely wooden bateaux lit beds. Most of the rooms have views to the mountains.
Children from 8 years upwards are welcome at the Chalet Loden, where one party has taken over the whole chalet.
Whilst we do not provide childcare at the Chalet Loden, we are happy to accommodate additional mealtimes such as High Tea or early dinner to suit your children's needs.
Meribel is a fantastic resort for children learning to ski. The nursery slopes are just a short bus ride from the Chalet or a short ski down to the main lift station for those children who are already comfortable on skis. Aside from skiing it is a winter wonderland with fantastic ice skating rink, ten pin bowling alley, indoor swimming pool, piste basher rides and tobogganing. |
| Menu options: |
It's important to us that you enjoy every moment of your holiday - the skiing, the resorts, and - of course, the food and drink. We've taken great care to make sure that our dining rooms are atmospheric places where you can unwind and chat with friends. Meals are relaxed occasions at our chalethotels with plenty of delicious, healthy food, accompanied by good wines.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served every morning until 10am. As well as a cooked breakfast, there is a buffet of juices, cereals, yoghurt and fruit, local breads and pastries, preserves and honey, along with tea, coffee, herbal teas and hot chocolate.
A selection of teas, coffee and hot chocolate is available in the lounge throughout the day.
Afternoon tea
This is a sight you will come to love - a selection of cakes, biscuits, bread, jams and honey, to greet you on your return from the slopes. There's also soup, if you prefer, along with a choice of teas, coffee and plenty of hot chocolate.
Dinner
Six nights a week our chefs create a three course menu with a choice of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. On two evenings, including the evening of arrival, they will prepare a buffet with plenty of choice to suit all tastes. For those with a sweet tooth there are some memorable desserts to enjoy, or, for those who prefer savouries, we serve cheese.
Wine
To accompany your meal you have a choice of wines; two whites and two reds. These table wines are complimentary and are available throughout dinner until coffee is served. We have a selection of other wines that can be purchased at extra cost.
Special diets
If you have any special dietary requirements please let us know before you travel and we will do our best to accommodate you. If you require specialised products, it may be advisable to bring these along with you.
Special occasions
Should you be marking a special occasion and need a celebratory cake, please speak to the chalethotel staff in good time, or order it through our After Sales department prior to your holiday.
Eating out
Once a week, our chefs and kitchen staff have an evening off. This is your opportunity to explore the local restaurants. Your chalethotel will have plenty of information on the local places to eat and will be happy to book a table and arrange transport for you. Please note this meal is at your own expense. Breakfast and afternoon tea are served as usual on this day.
Seating arrangements
Many of our guests enjoy the convivial dinner party ambience of a large shared table, whereas others prefer to dine in a family group or as a couple. It does depend on the size and layout of the dining area, but our staff will always do their best to accommodate your preferences. In chalethotels Tovière, Cygnaski, Moris and Christina, where our dining rooms are designed for the more traditional chalet-style skiing holiday, guests dine together in groups.
Bars
All our chalethotels have their own bars for the use of guests. Drinks bills are charged to your room and must be paid for at the end of your holiday by Visa, Mastercard or in local currency. Please note that licensing laws prohibit the drinking of duty-free or brought-in alcohol in our public rooms. |
