    Accommodation records for resort:
Host to the 1994 Winter Olympics, Lillehammer enjoys a snow record that ensures a lengthy winter sports season. The main ski area is in Hafjell (approx. 20 mins. by ski bus) where many of the Olympic events took place. You can test yourself on the downhill course and there is a great range of runs for both beginners and intermediates. Considered Norway's oldest winter sports resort, Lillehammer provides you with an enticing combination of Norwegian tradition and exciting winter activities. With so much to offer, both on and off the slopes, Lillehammer is a popular choice for weekend breaks and full length holidays for skiers and non-skiers alike. Known as a "Scandinavian Treasure" since they hosted the Winter Olympics in 1994, the resorts of Lillehammer and Hafjell enjoy an incredible stability in weather and excellent snow conditions that ensures a long ski season from the middle of November to the end of April.

    Lillehammer ski resort information

Lillehammer is located next to Lake Mjøsa and provides a good base for a ski holiday in Norway. The skiing and runs are about a 20 minute ski bus ride away in Hafjell, where 33km of pistes can be found and the 1994 Winter Olympics were held. The area directly surrounding Lillehammer though is perfect for cross country skiers.

As in the rest of Norway, the ski season in Lillehammer is long, running from November to May with good snow conditions throughout.

Ski Line offers a great variety of accommodation for your stay in Lillehammer. There are self catered apartments in chalet-style buildings or log cabins and also a few different types of hotels. Choose from bed and breakfast hotels, half board hotels or all inclusive hotels.

Après ski in the ski resort of Lillehammer

The ski resort of Lillehammer comes alive at night where restaurants, cafes, bars and nightclubs can all be found. If you enjoy a lively night out try one of Norway’s biggest clubs, Brenneriet or if you fancy a more laid back evening visit one of many traditional pubs.

Activities off the slopes in the ski resort of Lillehammer

The main street in Lillehammer has a few shops if you want to have a wander around the town, but if you want to try out more winter-based activities there’s plenty more to do. You can experience sleigh rides, dog-sledding, tobogganing, ice skating and even have a go at the old Olympic luge and bobsleigh track.

Beginners skiing in the ski resort of Lillehammer

Beginners are most likely to thrive while skiing in Hefjall, as the majority of runs are greens and blues.

Intermediates skiing in the ski resort of Lillehammer

With great snow conditions and a few more difficult red runs in the ski area of Hefjall early intermediates will be able to easily cruise the slopes, but the area’s not hugely extensive so more advanced intermediates might not be challenged enough.

Advanced skiing in the ski resort of Lillehammer

There are three runs suitable to advanced skiers in this resort, one of which is 4km long and has a vertical drop of 750m. The Olympic trail also has a degree of difficulty.

Snowboarding in the ski resort of Lillehammer

Due to the powder snow and well groomed runs, snowboarders here will be able to ride the terrain with ease. Just outside of Lillehammer town centre is a very good freestyle park called Kanthaugen. It boasts a mogul field 230m long and lots of take off points to practice aerials. It’s also seen as one of the world’s most compact freestyle parks.
