Lillehammer ski resort information
Lillehammer is located next to Lake Mjøsa and provides a good base for a ski holiday in Norway. The skiing and runs are about a 20 minute ski bus ride away in Hafjell, where 33km of pistes can be found and the 1994 Winter Olympics were held. The area directly surrounding Lillehammer though is perfect for cross country skiers.
As in the rest of Norway, the ski season in Lillehammer is long, running from November to May with good snow conditions throughout.

The main street in Lillehammer has a few shops if you want to have a wander around the town, but if you want to try out more winter-based activities there’s plenty more to do. You can experience sleigh rides, dog-sledding, tobogganing, ice skating and even have a go at the old Olympic luge and bobsleigh track.

Beginners are most likely to thrive while skiing in Hefjall, as the majority of runs are greens and blues.
Intermediates skiing in the ski resort of Lillehammer
With great snow conditions and a few more difficult red runs in the ski area of Hefjall early intermediates will be able to easily cruise the slopes, but the area’s not hugely extensive so more advanced intermediates might not be challenged enough.
Advanced skiing in the ski resort of Lillehammer
There are three runs suitable to advanced skiers in this resort, one of which is 4km long and has a vertical drop of 750m. The Olympic trail also has a degree of difficulty.
Snowboarding in the ski resort of Lillehammer
Due to the powder snow and well groomed runs, snowboarders here will be able to ride the terrain with ease. Just outside of Lillehammer town centre is a very good freestyle park called Kanthaugen. It boasts a mogul field 230m long and lots of take off points to practice aerials. It’s also seen as one of the world’s most compact freestyle parks.
