Nestling amidst pine forests in the beautiful Rila mountains, Borovets is Bulgaria’s oldest established and largest resort.

Borovets ski resort information

Bulgaria’s biggest and most modern ski resort, the cheap and cheerful ski resort of Borovets lies at 1300m and is seen as a good base for the intermediate skier on a budget ski holiday.

Set in Alpine like scenery, this wooded resort boasts lots of hotels, restaurants, shops and bars. Ski Line offer all sorts of accommodation in Borovets, ranging from self catered apartments, half board hotels and even self catered chalets.

The majority of slopes are accessed via the main 1000m gondola, taking you up to the variety of easy slopes in the Markoudjika area. For those looking for longer, more difficult runs, try the red runs accessed by the new quad lift on the Yastrebets pistes.

Ski schools in Borovets are generally of a good standard, with lots of English speaking instructors. Classes can get quite large at peak times, and nursery slopes can also become busy.

Après ski in the ski resort of Borovets

The ski resort of Borovets has been considered to have the best après ski in Bulgaria, with plentiful bars, discos and clubs to keep everyone entertained all night long. For the young and lively this resort is perfect as places stay open until late and drinks are very cheap. If you prefer a more relaxed evening, try one of the traditional tavernas or restaurants, where folklore evenings are often arranged.

For non-skiers, the ski resort of Borovets isn’t packed full of activities, however there are a few things to do such as snowmobiling, scenic walks and even jeep safaris.
