Accommodation records for resort:
Bansko is Bulgaria's number 1 ski resort, having the best and most modern ski centre of all Bulgarian ski resorts.

Bansko ski resort information

Bansko ski resort has progressed in recent years to become Bulgaria’s largest and most modern ski resort. With lots of money being invested into creating a superb new ski area and a fast network of lifts, this resort is highly regarded as a gem, and one that the rest of Bulgaria’s resorts are looking up to.

With the charming old town providing traditional food and culture, and the new modern resort centre providing a very high standard of accommodation, this ski resort is an excellent place to experience a unique ski holiday.

A great variety of slopes are offering skiers or boarders of all levels something to explore, and the snow conditions in all areas are good and last from December to May. The two main ski areas, Chalin Valog and Shiligarnika offer runs as high up as 2500m, and are accessed via a long gondola ride from the centre of Bansko to the top of the Pirin area.

Après ski in the ski resort of Bansko

A range of evening entertainment is available in Bansko. If you prefer quiet evenings relaxing over good food and wine, try one of many ‘mehanas’, which are traditional Bulgarian inns. For the livelier amongst you, pubs, bars and discos are dotted throughout the resort and perfect for a fun night out.

Activities off the slopes in the ski resort of Bansko

If you don’t ski or snowboard or simply fancy a break from the slopes, many activities such as bowling, skating and paragliding are on offer. Some hotels include spas, and others include shops, so there’s always something to occupy you should you need.

Beginners skiing in the ski resort of Bansko

At the top of the gondola gentle nursery slopes and easy blue runs provide a brilliant setting for learning the basics, and there are many runs for you to practise techniques and progress to higher levels. The fabulous scenery also makes for an enjoyable experience. A long meandering blue run can be a fun alternative to taking the gondola back down.

Intermediates skiing in the ski resort of Bansko

For an intermediate, the skiing in Bansko is varied across different pistes and many blue and red runs are served by a network of fast chair and draglifts, allowing you to try out the different ski areas with mainly north-facing slopes.

Advanced skiing in the ski resort of Bansko

If you’re looking for a ski resort with a vast amount of difficult runs, then Bansko isn’t the best option for you. With only one black run, the Tomba, there aren’t many slopes to provide a challenge. Some off-piste and cross country skiing can be experienced though.

Snowboarding in the ski resort of Bansko

Snowboarding in the ski resort of Bansko is good for those looking for long blues and red runs, however there are quite a few draglifts serving the area at the top of the main gondola. A snow park is here for you to try out jumps, and competitions are held frequently in the Shiligarnika area.
