| Zell am Ziller (580 m) follows Mayrhofen as the second-favoured destination in the Ziller Valley area, and offers with its "Zillertal Arena" a fantastic, snow-sure ski area. In the large ski area of the Ziller Valley region, one can ski from Zell on 160.5 km of piste reaching an altitude of 2,500 m. After a day on the slopes, après ski fans race to the sun terraces outside the mountain huts or to the many après ski locations in the valley. The leisure park, with an ice rink for skating, hockey, German curling, German bowling, and the courts in the tennis hall will keep you sporty into the evening. Those seeking relaxation enjoy the cosy, typical Tyrolean atmosphere they find in Zell. Zell am Ziller: Sport, après ski and relaxation! |
With the "Zillertaller Superskipass", you'll have access to 620 kilometres of piste, over 150 lifts and snow-sure pistes up to 3,250 m! The "chip" (lift pass) gives you instant access to all the cableways and lifts in the Zillertal valley area, which is connected by a complimentary shuttle bus in the high season. Zell boasts 160.5 km of piste and 55 mountain cableways and lifts, which will swiftly bring you to an altitude of 2,500 m. Children's pistes and a ski kindergarten with a special programme for children ensure great entertainment for the little ones. Snowboarders will find the deep-snow slopes of the 'Sportbahn Kapauns', the 'Wilden Krimml' and the 'Kreuzjoch' made-to-order. Freestylers will be thrilled in Gerlos. This region has been awarded the Tyrolean snowboard award and is among the Top 3 snowboard-resorts in Austria. Boarders are guaranteed to have fun in the mega-half pipe (100 m long, 14 m wide, 3 m high). As an added highlight, we recommend an outing to the Hintertuxer glacier, which, on account of its size and demanding pistes is among the best glaciers in the Alps. For this outing, you'll need the upgrade to the "Zillertaler Superskipass" including the glacier, which can be purchased as an extra.
The Zillertal may not be famous for its fast cross-country skiing facilities – a visit is worthwhile! The small amount of high trails is compensated by the tracks in the valley. Zell am Ziller offers 14 km of track, amongst those, 2 km in skating style. The regional tour leads from Zell am Ziller to Mayrhofen (25 km) – a dream for ambitious cross-country skiers! The 200 km the region provides also include the 12 km high trail on the Gerlosplatte near Krimml.
Also easily accessible is the 200 km trail “Pinzgau-Loipe” – a dream come true for all cross-country skiing fans!
après ski
What could be better than a great après ski after a successful day on the sunny pistes? The Zillertal valley arena is well known for her epic après ski. Over 30 huts and snow bars invite you in to party and flirt. Partygoers will enjoy the "Rosen-" or "Kreuzwiesenalm" or the "Saustad" or "Pfiff Bar". Cosy guesthouses, historic stubes, small bistros and cheery cafes in Zell invite you to enjoy the cuisine, which ranges from traditional to international. Night owls will swarm to "Almbar MTS". There you can dance and party into the morning. As an alternative to the club scene, we recommend a walk on the floodlit Ziller promenade. |
