Accommodation records for resort:
Set in the beautiful Ziller Valley, Mayrhofen has long earned its place as one of the world’s top ski and snowboard resorts. With lively, extensive nightlife and an attractive Tirolean centre, the village has a tremendous reputation, fantastic skiing and an excellent English-speaking ski and snowboard school.
Mayrhofen ski resort information

The ski resort of Mayrhofen has long since been a popular ski resort. It is quite a large resort boasting 157km of piste and 48 Lifts. Situated in the valley of Ziller this flat bottomed resort is popular with both groups and families due the extensive on and off piste facilities and beautiful scenery. The Penken section of the slopes can be reached by the main lift which is at one end of the main road that runs through the town, whilst at the other end you can take the cable car to the smaller Ahorn sector. There are also good buses and trains that link the other Zillertal resorts to enable everyone to get a good variety of runs with the lift pass over a weeks stay. For those cross country skiers there is a good 12 mile tail through the valley of Zell im Zillertal or you could go a little higher if the snow isn’t so good for the time of year to Vorderlanersbach which has an amazing snow sure trail.

Après ski in the ski resort of Mayrhofen

Mayrhofen is known for its lively and late night bars. Whilst the bars and discos are open late and full of people having a good time families should not be put off by this as you can stay in this ski resort and not know that it is happening.

Activities off the slopes in the ski resort of Mayrhofen

There are plenty of non ski activities in Mayrhofen. If you are a non skier you can easily reach any of your skiing friends up the mountain for lunch. A very good swimming pool complex with saunas, solariums and many other fun features can also be found in Mayrhofen. Or you can go on one of the many walks around the area if you wish to take in some of the stunning views.

Beginners skiing in the ski resort of Mayrhofen

The Beginner areas in the ski resort of Mayrhofen are not ideal. Whilst the nursery slopes in Ahorn are excellent as they are high and plentiful, the progression to the next stage of Blue runs is slightly harder from Penken ski area.

Intermediates skiing in the ski resort of Mayrhofen

Intermediate skiers will have more than enough choice on the slopes of Mayrhofen. Red runs are in their plenty on the Steep sided mountain, and will help you gain much confidence and are a delight for the competent intermediate skier.

Advanced skiing in the ski resort of Mayrhofen

There are a few harder runs in the ski resort of Mayrhofen. The off piste skiing is a must, with the fresh powder found at the top of Horbergjoch under the cable car linking Lanersbach. You can also try some of the other near by resorts which your valley lift pass will cover.

Snowboarding in the ski resort of Mayrhofen

Mayrhofen is very popular with Snowboarders. Beginners will struggle a little as it’s a little steep and the nursery slopes are not so convenient as they are mainly served by drag lifts. For the intermediate boarder you will find plenty of red runs and off piste are extremely accessible. There is also an amazing terrain park which is classed as one of the best in Europe.
