Filzmoos ski resort information
The small ski resort of Filzmoos lies in Austria’s Sportwelt Amade ski area. It sits at 1055m and has 32km of pistes. Being a small resort, Filzmoos boasts a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and is therefore ideal for beginners and families alike.
This charming village offers guests a choice of lovely self catered apartments and pretty half board hotels, all set in beautiful scenery and overlooked by the Bischofsmütze Mountain and Dachstein Glacier.
Filzmoos is home to uncrowded, unintimidating slopes, with almost 100% snow making coverage and cute mountain restaurants, it’s great for skiers and boarders looking for a peaceful resort to stay in.

A lot of the restaurants in Filzmoos are based within the hotels; however there are a few throughout the village offering both traditional and international dishes. There are cheaper restaurants for families on a budget, or high end restaurants for couples looking for a romantic evening. Some 30 bars are perhaps surprisingly lively as well, such as Happy Filzmoos and Keen-i-di.
Activities off the slopes in the ski resort of Filzmoos
Some fun activities are on offer here for non-skiers. A great swimming pool complex can me found in the resort and there are 50km of walking trails in the surrounding area. You can also enjoy floodlit toboggan runs and sleigh rides through the trees to experience local folk music in Unterhofalm, and for a truly magnificent time, take a hot air balloon ride above Filzmoos.

Nursery slopes in Filzmoos are located right in the centre of the resort, convenient for novices. To progress, a chairlift can take you to some easy slopes a bit higher up. The ski schools here are great too.
Intermediates skiing in the ski resort of Filzmoos
Early intermediates will enjoy the slopes above Filzmoos, however if you want more mileage or need more of a challenge, buses run a few times a week to neighbouring resorts such as Flachau, where a huge 860km can be explored throughout the region.
Advanced skiing in the ski resort of Filzmoos
There’s only one black run in Filzmoos, the Papageno, but there’s also some off piste skiing to be done. If you head to nearby Flachau, the World Cup run can be enjoyed too.
Snowboarding in the ski resort of Filzmoos
Snowboarding is popular in Filzmoos, as the three local ski schools also operate snowboarding schools. Wide open runs accessed by chair lifts, and natural hits on the varied terrain provide brilliant conditions for boarders, both of beginner and intermediate levels. If you purchase a full area lift pass, there are a few terrain parks in nearby areas to try out. |
