The ski resort of Bad Hofgastein is in the Gastein valley, a very pleasant spa town, it has a quiet pedestrianised area set in the wide part of the valley. The slopes are a bus ride or a walk away. Alternatively you can travel by bus to the Angertal area again by bus, this area is further away from the resort. The Centre of the town has all the necessary shops and bars. The town spa here is something you must try with indoor and out door pools, with the added bonus of saunas and steam baths. You can also swim in the heated river. This resort is a favourite with families for being more subdued, the neighbouring town Bad Gastein has the more lively night life.

The Après ski in Bad Hofgastein is fairly quiet for Austria, but there are some bars and a local disco bars. These of course say open late for those who wish to party in to the early hours if some what quietly!

Bad Hofgastein has fantastic spa facilities. With plenty of pools, saunas and steam baths the non skiers will have plenty to do to relax, the spas are located in the centre of the town. You could also try your hand in the casino. There is also some great cross country skiing and walking available.

For the beginners in Bad Hofgastein you will need to catch a bus over to the nursery slopes in Angertal, not ideal but once there you’ll have plenty of slopes to practise on.

Make your way to the Schlossalm slopes where the slopes are best suited to intermediate skiers. High end intermediates can also travel a little further afield with confidence.

There are not very many challenging runs in the ski resort of Bad Hofgastein. The more advanced skiers may prefer to test themselves on the off piste areas.
