Ski Sweden - Swedish ski resorts

Sweden's landscape is of forests, lakes and mile after mile of winter wilderness and very different from the Alps with traffic coked roads and craggy peaks.

The accommodation, food and service are good and its people welcoming, lively and friendly. The language is incomprehensible to us Brits but virtually everyone speaks good English.

We think Sweden as a ski destination will appeal to those wanting more a winter holiday with a different environment and culture rather than steep big linked ski areas of France or Switzerland or rolling mountains of Austria.

One myth that need correction is that its dark in Sweden, its true the days are shorter in December and early January, but in February the lifts are open from 9am till 16:30, by March it remain light until 20:30. Most of the resorts we feature have floodlit slopes.

Après ski is taken very seriously with live bands from mid to late afternoon, after a break for dinner the nightlife begins!

There is plenty to do off the slopes with snowmobile safaris, ice fishing, Dog sleigh rides, ice climbing and possibly the greatest concentration of saunas anywhere in the world.

Our key resorts in Sweden are Are and Vemdalen
