Norway and its ski resorts are very different from the Alps or the Rockies. Some British skiers find it very much to their tastes.
For cross-country skiers or those wanting to learn to telemark, it's a great place.
Many of the resorts have very limited ski areas. For serious down hill skier or snow boarder, the only choice is really Hemsedal,
It's a small unspoilt village with hints of its alpine cousins in France.
It has an impressive record, due to its latitude, altitude and orientation but all back up, just in case with extensive snow making.
The ski season in Norway is long with resorts closing long before the snow has gone.
Norway is better know for its cross country skiing than for its down hill.
In fact Norway is one of the very best places for places for cross-country skiing. The locals learn to cross country ski before they walk!
If you like to enjoy a lunch on the mountain, Norway's ski resorts won't be the best place for you, the food is fast and alcohol is very expensive,
despite this the locals still enjoy a "good" drink when après skiing over the weekends, when it can get very rowdy! (The weekdays are normally quiet)
