Top recommended ski resorts for group trips
Getting your ski buddies to agree on where to go is one of the hardest things for a group leader and as you are reading this we figure that you are going to take on the role of group ski holiday leader this winter! Below are some of the ski resorts you might like to consider.
Meribel, France Situated in the centre of the 3 Valleys ski area, it’s ideally placed to reach Courchevel 1650 on the far left as you look at the piste map (about 40 minutes) and Val Thorens on far right (about 50 minutes) and with over 650km of piste suitable for all levels it makes it an ideal choice. We have a massive choice of chalets and club hotels which are ideal for groups. The night life is pretty good too!
St Anton, Austria One of our top choices for group ski holidays, St Anton is best suited for intermediate ski levels and above as the choices for beginners are a little limited. The skiing is fantastic, high, and with one of the best snow records in Europe. It’s the night life that is the biggest draw for groups here. Many an hour has been lost by our clients in the Krazy Kangaroo bar!
Val Thorens, France If you are skiing early or very late in the season, Val Thorens is a perfect choice, its Europe’s highest ski resort at 2300m and most of the chalets, hotels and apartments are ski in ski out or very close to the pistes. Val Thorens is also home to the new Folie Douce slope side bar, which is a perfect setting at the end of a bright day for a spot of après ski dancing in the open air!
Val d’Isere, France A ski Mecca for mixed ability groups, high, with great early and late season snow. Linked with its sister ski resort of Tignes there is over 300km of skiing. La Plagne, France If your group has a few nervous beginners and a few off piste crazy boarders and skiers, La Plagne is a great choice offering a wonderful mix of runs to suit all levels. The ski area can be big or small; you can choose to take the local area pass of the full Paradiski area ski pass that doubles the size to include the Les Arcs ski area too. Kitzbuhel, Austria Smart and swanky it may be, but Kitzbuhel has more to offer than just ladies in fur hats and coats. Kitzbuhel’s extensive and varied slopes offer all levels of skier perfect skiing particularly since the new 3S cross valley gondola was installed in 2004. Morzine, France Morzine has quick access to the higher slopes of Avoriaz and the rest of the extensive slopes of the Portes du Soleil with 650km of linked international skiing. Alpe d’Huez, France A great choice for groups with mixed abilities. It’s high and sunny slopes offer a wide choice of varied terrain. Alpe D’Huez has good varied night life too, but if that’s not your thing, why not think about staying in the satellite village of Vaujany which is more laid back, but still with the same great skiing. Chamonix, France A Mecca for the advanced skiers and snow boarders who like their runs steep and deep. Set in the shadow of the majestic Mont Blanc, Europe’s highest peek, it’s a perfect choice for those of you who prefer to go off piste.
