Easter Ski Holidays 2012
With prices up to 25% cheaper, skiing over the Easter period is a good alternative rather than skiing in the more expensive February half term holiday week. Many families with Children of school age are starting to realise this. The school holidays are over a two week period at Easter so availability is always better. The first week of the Easter school holiday is always the most popular with families and books up more quickly.
The weather in the Alps for an Easter ski holiday is always a few degrees warmer than over the other school holiday weeks so is ideal for families with young children who are sensitive to the cold. This doesn't necessarily mean that the snow won't be great as often, late March and April snow fall is often the highest. Whilst it might not last as long as it does in January spring skiing has its advantages, such as lots of fresh snow to top up levels, fewer icy patches on steep runs and of course the opportunity to catch a sun tan!
For skiers who like to ski off piste spring skiing around Easter is often regarded as the best, after the sun catches the frozen snow over night leaving a wonderful few inches of soft snow to make off piste skiing all the more fun.
Slope side restaurants always make the most of sunny days and Easter skiing is perfect to make the most of views while dining alfresco.
Easter this year is early so even the lower attitude ski resorts should have great snow over the Easter period. Booking an Easter ski holiday is an ideal time to get a second week on the slopes and pick up an Easter ski deal.
