Andorra is now the 4th most popular ski destination for British skiers, attracting about 82,000 package holidaymakers each season. With just 2 ski areas all these British skiers are heading for the same areas, so it's difficult to get away from fellow Brits.
Andorra was always seen as a cheap ski holiday destination, popular with the young who wanted a good time and also the opportunity to learn to ski or snow board. But despite its duty free status from times when the Taxman was not able to collect taxes due to snowfall, it's now priced similarly to other European ski destinations. Recent years have seen an increase in the number of upmarket hotels being built.
Andorra no longer competes with Eastern European resorts on price, but remains lower in price than France, Switzerland and some Austrian resorts.
Andorra has invested in both piste grooming and constant upgrading of the lift systems.
Ski schools in Andorra have an excellent reputation with British skiers, all speaking good English.
The nightlife in Arinsal & Pas de la Casa is very lively.
Pas de la Casa particularly so, we refer to it as "Ibiza in the snow". Soldeu by comparison is more laid back.
Accommodation in Andorra is mainly in hotels and apartments, although we have a couple of catered chalets, which always book up well in advance.
Flights are normally from the UK to either Toulouse or Barcelona; transfer times are longer than many other
European countries at about 4 hours plus.
